Relay protection and automation data processing system

         Within November-December 2011 the specialists of our enterprise fulfilled the design and commissioning activities for relay protection and automation data processing systems at OJSC “Pervouralsk novotrubni plant”, 35 kV closed switchgears, “Trubnaya” substation. The automation objects are 35 kV closed switchgear cells with installed control and measuring instruments: SINEAX A210 counters and SIPROTEC 7SJ62 multifunction protective relays.

          For system implementation the controller Simatic S7 CPU 315-2DP of “Siemens” manufacture, which receives and processes data from the instruments via Profibus DP net and is installed in one of closed switchgear cells, was used.
          The processed data are displayed on operator workstation, located at “Trubnaya” substation and built on basis of SCADA system WinCC of “Siemens” manufacture. Communication between visualization system and controller is executed via Profibus DP net.
          The installed system fulfills the following basic tasks:
  •  centralized data acquisition from relay protection and automation equipment and control of position of high-voltage switches of 34 kV closed switchgear cells;
  •  control and processing of grounding signals in incoming feeders (additional protection in incoming feeders has been provided);
  •  automatic running of basic parameter archive for relay protection and automation equipment;
  •  simplified maintenance of electric equipment, continuous diagnostics and equipment status control with output of easy-to-read alphanumeric current status messages;
  •  remote on/off switching control of 35 kV closed switchgear cells.

Modernization of electric drive for car dumper turning and control board for car dumpers No.1 and No.2

In December 2011 the specialists of our enterprise finished the activities on engineering of monitoring and control system for electric drive of car dumpers No.1 and No.2 in Vostochny port – the town of Nakhodka. Car dumpers are designed for discharging the cars with cargos laden in bulk. Such modernization has contributed to increase in efficiency of coal discharging and minimization of dynamic stresses on metal structure of car dumper. The project provides for replacement of operator station, replacement of controller Schneider Electric by more powerful one - Quantum 140CPU31110, as well as installation of additional sensors for secure rotor positioning and automatic positioning of open car into car dumper rotor.

Backup of control and visualization server for microprocessor centralization

          In December 2011 the specialists of our enterprise completed the set of design, erection and commissioning activities on modernization of server backup system for microprocessor centralization at Vostochny port – the town of Nakhodka, Primorski krai. Replacement of existent server equipment by more powerful and up-to-date facilities and modification of system architecture contributed to enhancement of reliability indexes of microprocessor centralization system.

Modernization of electric drive for hydro-station of reclaimer no.1 bucket wheel

          In December 2011, at Vostochny port – the town of Nakhodka, Primorski krai, the specialists of our enterprise completed the activities on design of electric drive system for hydro-station of reclaimer no.1 bucket wheel based on variable-frequency drive of “ABB” manufacture that was supposed to replace the existent direct start system. Such upgrading has contributed to increase in efficiency of main pumps of bucket wheel hydro-station and enhancement of dynamic performance of the machine, while excluding its overloads.

          Besides, the project provides for replacement of operator panel OP077B by more modern one -MP277 TOUCH, with improved performance characteristics.

Modernization of pumping unit for drilling rig “Uralmash 3000 EUK-1M”

 

          The specialists of “ASC” enterprise have finished the works on commissioning of upgraded pumping unit for drilling rig “Uralmash 3000 EUK-1M”.
By order of Nefteugansk branch of Siberian Service Company, the “ASC” enterprise performed activities on modernization of pumping unit for drilling rig. Modernization of electric equipment of drilling rig was mainly targeted at:
  •  replacement of old drill pumps HBT-600 by drill pumps HBT-1000 kL of hydraulic unit power 950-1000 kW with adjustable-frequency electric drive;
  •  replacement of electric equipment for pump block and circulation system machinery control by modern PLC-controlled hardware platform.    
         
All converting equipment, voltage supply system 6000/690V, common bus system 400/220V, drill pump block and circulation system machinery control cabinets are located in container-type electrical room. Each drill pump employs one squirrel-cage induction motor of explosion-proof design with power of 950 kW (of “ABB” manufacture). Motor control is executed with the use of frequency converters of ACS800 series. Automated control system, designed for control of drill pumps and auxiliary mechanisms of pumping unit and circulation system in manual and semi-automatic modes, control of lock-ups and parameters, display and archiving of required parameters, has been implemented. Automated control system of drilling rig is a single-processor system, based on programmable logic controller S7-300 of “Siemens” manufacture and distributed peripheral devices on basis of ET200M modules.   
          
 
 
The following functions are implemented in automated control system :
  •  automatic start (stop) of supercharging pumps by start (stop) of drill pumps;
  •  automatic start (stop) of auxiliary systems of drill pump motors (lubrication, ventilation, heating) by start (stop) of drill pumps;
  •  control of treatment unit machinery and tank block machinery.
          The following data are displayed on a panel PC by way of mimic diagrams:
  • video frame of the condition of electric circuit assembly;
  • video frame of flow chart of drill pump block along with display of the status of supercharging pumps, drill pumps, drill pump auxiliary machinery, readings and states of technological sensors;
  • video frame of the state of automated control system;
  • list of operational availability of machines;
  •  archive of warnings and failures;
  •  archive of operator actions.
                The equipment was subject to complex testing and was handed over to be commissioned at Malo-Balikskoye deposit.

Commissioning of process control system for a forging plant of a 3000 ton-force press

          Within summer 2011 the specialists of “Automated systems and complexes” enterprise performed the works on commissioning of a forging plant of a 3000 ton-force press in shop 21 at OJSC “VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation”, the town of Verkhnyaya Salda. The forging plant includes a forging press itself and two manipulators of “Glama” manufacture (Germany).

          To handle the tasks of basic automation system of the forging plant there was applied a programmable controller Simatic S7-416-2DP of “Siemens” manufacture with distributed peripherals – field stations ET200M. Equipment control is executed via operator’s workstation, implemented with the use of SCADA-system WinCC.
          The commissioning works were conducted jointly with specialists of “Glama” company (Germany) and the specialists of LLC “Ural engineering centre” from the town of Chelyabinsk.
The commissioning works brought the following results:
  •  The rate of penetration during press operation: 60-120 mm\sec  
  •  Idling speeds of the press (lifting and lowering): 200-250mm\sec
  •  Quantity of press strokes in “Forging” mode: 19-24 strokes
  •  Quantity of strokes in “Smoothing” mode: 40-50 strokes
  •  Sizing accuracy in all modes: +/- 1mm
  •  Complete integration of manipulators’ system into process control system of the forging plant

Reconstruction of control system and main drives of a sinking-sizing mill

          The specialists of “ASC” enterprise have finished the works on reconstruction of mill drives and replacement of control system of a sinking-sizing mill in tube-rolling shop No.1 at “Volzhski tube-rolling plant” (OJSC “VTZ”, the town of Volzhski).

          The purpose of reconstruction is replacement of worn out and outdated electric equipment of DC drive control system of mill stands and control system of the mill in general by the up-to-date digital equipment.
          DC drive control systems are built on basis of SIMOREG CM (SIEMENS) modules, operating for the new power reversive gate sections SVDR-1250-660 UHL (designed and produced by CJSC “ASC”).
          Control system of main drives of a sinking-sizing mill provides:
  • control of microprocessor drives of mill stands 1…12 via Profibus;
  • generation of velocity signals for microprocessor drives of mill stands 1…12 according to the library of gaging speed indexes;  
  • correction of velocity signals according to mill operator commands;
  • the functions of programmable logic control of operating conditions (switch on/off, start/stop);
  • process visualization at mill operator workstation;
  • continuous diagnostics and visualization of current technical condition of electric equipment.
          Equipping of control pulpit with a sinking-sizing mill operator workstation increases the comfort and efficiency of labour, while application of gaging speed library minimizes the time of mill setup, required for change-over to a new mix rolling.

Testing of wireless tram – our present to the citizens of Russia for the New Year 2012!

 

         Today, on the 28th of December, 2011, on the city tramlines there took place the first test run of a tram car (model   71-405-11) of OJSC “Uraltransmash” production with innovative traction electrical equipment, developed and manufactured by CJSC “ASC”.
It is considered to be innovative for the reason that for the first time in Russia there’s been created a tram car, that can be fed not only from overhead system, but also from energy storage unit by way of the bank of supercapacitors, located inside the car.  


        
As compared to the traditional, even most up-to-date trams, the new car has the following advantages:
  • reduction of peak power usage from overhead system by 5 times (120A instead of 600A), which ensures a significant energy loss reduction by energy transmission from substations to the car, and will ultimately enable to significantly ( by 2-3 times) reduce the number of substations;
  • 100% usage of recuperative energy (electric energy, produced by motors under generator conditions during braking), which is stored in full in on-board accumulator and then used for acceleration;
  • capability of autonomous run with dynamic performance meeting GOST requirements.
According to preliminary estimates, that can be made based on the results of the test run, specific energy consumption, taking into account the auxiliary power consumption, but apart from heating, will comprise 1-1,2 kW*hour/km – about 1,5 times less than in existing cars.
 

This innovative development opens up new opportunities in the field of development of urban electric transport and public transportations.

Control system of cold-rolling mill “Quarto-2800”

 

The specialists of “ASC” enterprise have finished the works on modernization of control system of cold-rolling mill “Quarto-2800” at “Alcoa Metallurg Rus” plant in the town of Belaya Kalitva.
The complete work package on engineering, production of equipment, electric wiring and commissioning was provided.
The existent reversive thyristor exciters for the electric generators of coilers and main DC drive of mill stand KTE-100/460 with analog control system were replaced by the reversive thyristor DC converters SIMOREG of “SIEMENS” company with digital control system.
Automatic control system of electric drives of coilers is a two-zone speed control system:
  • speed ăegulator with two internal controllers: armature current controller and electric generator excitation current controller;
  • emf regulator with internal motor excitation current controller.
Automatic control system of electric drive of mill stand is a one-zone speed control system:
  • speed controller with two internal controllers: armature current controller and electric generator excitation current controller;
  • motor excitation current controller with two reference settings for the first and the second speed.
A new process control system of the mill was developed on basis of programmable controller S7-400 of “Siemens” manufacture with remote input-output stations.
The control panels were replaced with the use of operator panels TP177A.
 
The following basic mill control functions were implemented:
  • control of rolling speed ranges on the mill;
  • control of coilers in reversing mode;
  • maintenance of steady strip tension by rolling;
  • automatic mill brake control – preliminary calculation of a number of coils on a coiler and mill brake control as a function of residual coils on an uncoiler.
