Upgrading of electric drives and process control system for cold strip slitting unit.
The upgrading activities on electric drives and process control system for cold strip slitting unit No.10 were completed. The unit was put into operation in 1982.
The unit includes 10 DC and AC variable speed electric drives and more than 30 non-variable speed electric drives.
The upgrading scope did not include replacement of electric motors. Complete microprocessor-controlled converters Sinamics DCM and G120В were used as basic variable speed drive control components. Process control system was implemented with programmable controller Simatic S7-1500 and safety controller Simatic S7-1200F. Communication with electric drives and remote input-output stations was established via Profinet. SCADA system WinCC was used for human-machine interface with client-server architecture. Troubleshooting and archiving system was implemented using IBA PDA tools.
Upgrading resulted in:
- — providing uninterrupted operation owing to withdrawal from service of worn-out equipment;
- — equipment unification increase;
- — shutdown risk reduction;
- — enhancement of operational flexibility and comfort of process and maintenance staff.
