Drilling rig БУ F-400/3DX-Y upgrading.

Upgrading of drilling rig БУ F-400/3DX-Y has been finished. It involved replacement of a draw-works, a rotor and drill pumps with diesel-engine drives by variable-frequency drives of «VARIANT» series (the product of CJSC «ASC»).

The scope of work:

  • • replacement of the draw-works with a diesel-engine drive by the draw-works of ЛБУ-1500 type with a variable-frequency drive;
  • • replacement of a rotor drive by a variable-frequency drive;
  • • replacement of drill pumps with a diesel-engine drive by triplex drill pumps of УНБТ-1180 type with a variable-frequency drive;
  • • production, delivery and putting into operation of a container-type 6 kV voltage distribution unit;
  • • production, delivery and putting into operation of container КТУ-1 for control of a two-engine draw-works, a rotor drive, with a group frequency converter of «VARIANT» series by CJSC «ASC»;
  • • production, delivery and putting into operation of container КТУ-2 for control of drill pumps, with individual frequency converters of «VARIANT» series by CJSC «ASC»;
  • • local control stations for drill pumps. explosion-proof control desk for a draw-works and a rotor;
  • • delivery, erection and adjustment of  electric motors for a draw-works, a rotor, drill pumps;
  • • bothway intercommunication system (5 subscribers).

The composition of equipment:

6 kV distribution.

For the purpose of 6 kV electric power receipt and distribution within a cluster pad, CJSC «ASC» has produced and commissioned a 6 kV complete packaged modular distribution device with vacuum circuit breakers, surge suppressors and microprocessor relay protection  terminals, comprised of 6 cubicles of KCO-298 type. To improve mobility and reduce scope of erection works the distributing transformer 6/0,4 kV 1000kVA, the power distributing cabinet 0.4kV was installed as part of a container-type 6 kV voltage distribution unit for supplying power to the primary consumers of drilling rig.

Derrick drawwork unit.

The main drives of a derrick drawwork unit, such as two-engine draw-works, rotor, draw-works emergency drive are controlled via individual control system implemented with PLC and distributed I/O by “Inovance” company; the equipment is located inside container КТУ-1.

For speed and torque control of electric engines of a draw-works and a rotor, the group multi-engine drive based on frequency converters of «VARIANT» series by CJSC «ASC» was applied. The drive consists of eight control cabinets.

For the purpose of controlling the main drives of a derrick drawwork unit, an independent automated control system was applied which is intended for control of the main and emergency drives of a draw-works, a rotor drive and auxiliary mechanisms of the main drives of a derrick drawwork unit, in manual and semi-automatic modes, as well as for control of lockouts and parameters, display and backup of required parameters.

The following automatic functions were implemented:

  • • automatic start-up (stop) of auxiliary systems of a draw-works and  a rotor (lubrication, ventilation, heating) during start-up (stop) of the main drives;
  • • drilling control mode implementation both on the main and emergency drives of a draw-works, with rate of penetration setting and drilling pressure maintaining;
  • • automatic travelling block stoppage at preset top and bottom points;
  • • automatic braking and weight on hook holding by a draw-works engine;
  • • automatic monitoring of a current weight on hook value  and actuating lockouts in case of excess weight;
  • • monitoring of process parameters accompanied by generating of warning and alarm messages (trips).

Pump block.

The main and auxiliary mechanisms of the pump block are controlled via independent control system, on the basis of controller and distributed I/O by “Inovance” company, located inside container КТУ-2. Control of drill pumps is performed via individual frequency converters (2 pcs.) of В1-1350-690 type by CJSC «ASC», a 12-pulse circuit, 690V, 1350A, 1350kW. The control system fulfills all necessary protective and technological functions.
