Modernization of mud pump drive based on VARIANT frequency converters produced by ASC.
Two variable-frequency drives of VARIANT series used for mud pumps control manufactured by ASC have been commissioned at Eastern section of Srednebotuobinskoe oil and gas condensate field, Mirninsky district, Republic of Sakha. The aim of modernization of pumping unit of the drilling rig ZJ-40 was replacement of mud pumps with diesel drive with F-1600 mud pumps with variable-frequency electric drive.
ASC’s scope of supply included container type silicon-controlled rectifier unit with a VARIANT variable-frequency drive (1200kW, 690V, 1300A), pump control console and driller’s control console. Converters control asynchronous electric motors YDB423-1200/600-RL (1200kW, 600V, 50Hz) of mud pumps F-1600 produced in China.
Container climate control and converter cooling system based on combined extract and input ventilation without air conditioning systems was used for the first time in this project.
VARIANT frequency converters were for the first time successfully implemented for industrial use.
