Rolling mill 1200-2 has been put back into operation.
The 20-high cold reversing mill «1200-2», installed in cold-rolling shop of OOO VIZ-Steel (Limited Liability Company), is designed for production of electrical steel coiled stock. The mill was manufactured in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic by Skoda-Export corporation.
A fire that had occurred in the cable tunnels caused varying degrees of damage to electrical equipment and control cabinets, located in the motor room. The fire broke out on the 26th of October, 2025. On the 27th of October already the JSC ASC specialists arrived at the fire site and got down to examining it and defining the scope of recovery work to be done.
The control system for main machines of the mill includes more than 50 cabinets and control panels. The 34 cabinets, that had been most severely damaged, were transported to assembly shop of JSC ASC, where the electrical equipment of the cabinets was dismantled and subject to cleaning from traces of combustion residue and thermal effects. The element-by-element diagnostics of the equipment in question identified the need for replacement of 10 — 80 % of constituent parts. The necessary assembling of the refurbished cabinets and completing them with components, as well as testing them at JSC ASC stands was finished in the shortest time possible; as a result, the last power section was shipped to the Customer on the 5th of December already. By that time the Customer had already performed a complete replacement of all cable products and repair of motors.
The JSC ASC specialists not only reconditioned the low-voltage distribution switchboards of electric drives of main machines of the mill, but also carried out an extensive work on recovery of the control system for auxiliary machines.
The commissioning works were performed under extreme conditions and on a very tight schedule. The first coils of transformer steel were rolled on the 29th of December already! The APCS of the mill was restored within 63 days.
