Revamp of electric equipment for drives of roughing train of mill «150».
There was completed another stage of revamp of electric equipment and automated control systems for a double-strand wire rolling mill 150.
New DC drive control systems for 5 roughing train mill stands were put into commission. The structural design of old control systems made it possible to replace the analog automatic drive control systems while armature circuit power gate sections of thyristor converters remained the same. The implemented revamping scheme, being based on a great quantity of spare thyristor modules, resulted in minimization of financial costs associated with modernization. The object-oriented device «digital electric drive» produced by «ASC» company structurally includes one cabinet (SI) with digital automatic control system for armature circuit irreversible gate section and new digital motor field circuit reversible thyristor converter. Microprocessor unit Sinamics DCM CM (revamp module) of SIEMENS manufacture functioning for the existent power gate section is used as a basic component for control cabinets SI of mill stand drives. Motor excitation winding is fed from packaged reversible converter Sinamics DCM.
In the course of software development and hardware design and production there were solved the issues pertaining to integration of new units into existent wire rolling process control system of mill 150, as well as data exchange with automatic rolled stock tracking system.
The vast experience in similar brownfield projects along with a selfless labour and professional assistance of shop-floor operating personnel of Beloretsk iron and steel works, enabled fulfillment of dismantling, erection, adjustment and commissioning of a complex suite of systems and equipment within a 7-day period of scheduled overhaul repair.
