OJSC Severstal — Metiz, Cherepovets.

Process parameter control system (dispatch system). In 2020 our company continued works on implementation of dispatch system at OAO «Severstal-Metiz» plant. The system, analogous to the one that was implemented earlier in steel rolling shop No. 2, was deployed in wire rope shop. The system was implemented on basis of WinCC OA (Siemens) software and is intended for:

  • automatic information acquisition from technological devices involved in production process;
  • long-term information storage;
  • information output both in the form of specific regular reports and on demand of the users;
  • information analysis both in real-time mode for generating of warning and alarm messages and in historical intervals of time for discovering certain trends in various processes;
  • actual process parameters information display; generation of reporting and analytical documents relating to performance of wire rope shop.

About 180 equipment units of wire rope shop are introduced into the system under the project. Total number of parameters for the shop amounts to 15 000 of variables. Based on experience of operating the system that was deployed earlier in steel rolling shop No.2 one can distinguish the following benefits of implementing the afore-said system, namely:

  • providing access of management personnel to current on-line information for finding correct and prompt solution to the problem;
  • providing output of actual information on capacity of each production unit in so doing ruling out the possibility of personnel false reporting and claiming awards for overexceeding the quota of a plan (thus preventing non-justified excess granting of bonus awards);
  • providing more effective machine loading while excluding a “ragged” working pattern caused by equipment performance under onerous high load operating conditions entailing groundless down times;
  • providing possibility of revealing the “bottle necks” (narrow spaces) as part of machine loading process for making decisions on respective debottlenecking;
  • providing on-line diagnostics of equipment failures thus minimizing the down times required for restoring the equipment to working condition.
