Upgrading of automatic pipe-threading line No.5.
Inter-machine mechanization is designed to automatically load a mother pipe and discharge a finished pipe after processing, as well as to move pipes along the cutting line (a fifth centerline) and align and clamp a pipe during processing in the machines.
The purpose of upgrading was to replace an obsolete and worn-out electrical equipment and automatic control system while maintaining the scope of application and escaping degradation of the nameplate ratings of the equipment used.
The following activities were undertaken within the framework of the project:
- — the CNC system was replaced with SINUMERIK 840D SL system with digital control support actuators and the main drive SINAMICS S120 (1 set per machine);
- — a sixth centerline was introduced in the system – pipe alignment;
- — the operator panel and the machine’s control panel were replaced for each machine;
- — the control equipment is allocated in two cabinets (one cabinet per machine) and remote I/O stations ЕТ200SР;
- — all cable products, optical and inductive sensors were replaced;
- — the lamps inside and outside the machines were replaced with the LED ones.
Combined with an array of SINAMICS drives and automation level expansion, SIMATIC S7-300 SINUMERIK 840D SL forms a digital integrated system, most particularly suited for complex machining tasks and characteristic of high dynamics and accuracy.
SINUMERIK 840D SL system unites the CNC, PLC and communication tasks on one single NCU module. The high-performance multiprocessor NCU module is integrated into the SINAMICS digital drive array by means of its installation via the DRIVE-CLIQ bus.
