Automation systems for presses of 2000 and 3500 ton-force.
The specialists of JSC Automated systems and complexes have completed works on implementation of automatic control modes for presses of 2000 and 3500 ton-force used in railway wheel production line at Vyksa Smelter. The primary project objective was to fully automate all mechanisms of presses and blank transporting lines.
Besides, according to the specification requirements, it was required to increase the number of wheels processed up to 150 pieces per hour (not more than 24 seconds for all working operations on the press). It’s worth noting that the presses and blank feed and removal mechanisms had not been originally intended for operation in automatic mode – all control was implemented manually using a relay circuit.
The Customer chose to use Siemens equipment as the main automation facilities: S7-1500 controllers, Sinamics S120 drives, Comfort series operator panels. As a result, the Customer obtained an up-to-date automated press control system with a flexible adjustability. The main electrical equipment was used in the automatic standby activation “on-the-fly” configuration.
The resulting productivity exceeds the blank processing speeds specified in the terms of reference. The system is a modular and scalable one, allowing for expanding its functionality in the future and thus ensuring further productivity increase.
