
Automated system of conveyor belt tear detection.
In February 2016 ASC specialists completed detailed design documentation concerning installation of belt tear detectors on conveyors No. 43, 44, 52, 53, 77, 78, 79, 80 at stage 3 of PPK-3 coal handling complex. Works were executed under subcontractor agreement with DNIIMF OJSC, Vladivostok.
The scope of supply included mechanical drawings of detector design and mounting. Two types of detector design were proposed. These detectors are used for identifying longitudinal and transverse tears both in the middle and on the sides of the belt. Besides, design of electrical part was made in respect of detector installation and connection to the new conveyor automated control system of stage 3 as well as ensuring data display on operator’s and mechanic’s automated workstations.
Conveyor belt tear detection system allows for a more reliable conveyor unit operation due to quick damage detection and conveyor shutdown. Remote detection and diagnostics of place of failure helps reduce equipment downtime during coal loading and increase lifetime of expensive conveyor belt.
