Upgrading of a DC drive involves, first and foremost, replacement of obsolete control systems by the modern digital ones.
Due to the fact that the equipment of leading foreign manufacturers, such as Siemens and ABB, had always been extensively used as control modules, the metallurgical companies, following the imposition of sanctions, now have to solve the problems associated with replacing and purchasing of the imported equipment. The ASC engineers have developed an exclusively Russian solution, which is in no way inferior in terms of performance characteristics to its best foreign counterparts.
DC drive control system «Variant DC» is made as a microprocessor-based control module, which is designed to control an external three-phase reversible bridge thyristor rectifier, supplying power to the motor armature circuit, and also to energize an excitation circuit. Control is achieved through regulating the electric motor rotation velocity or torque. Support of Profibus DP, Profinet and Modbus communication protocols is provided. The control module can be used in conjunction with the rectifier sections of ASC make.
The economic benefits from the implementation include improvement in quality of process equipment operation owing to introduction of a digital control system, electric drive operational reliability growth, as well as minimization of costs for upgrading and supporting of operational state of equipment during operation.
